Skilled Legal Counsel For Your Divorce

When it is time to end your relationship with your spouse, you may face a lot of stress and uncertainty — financially, emotionally and otherwise. I understand, and I can help.

I am Jackie Gonz, a family law attorney with nearly 25 years of experience. At my law office in Ste. Genevieve, I represent clients throughout Southeast Missouri.

While every divorce case is highly personal and unique, they generally fit into three categories. I am prepared to help you with all aspects of your case whether you need to:

  1. Obtain an uncontested divorce. If you and your spouse can agree on all the terms of your divorce, including the division of marital property and debt, your divorce is uncontested. Although this type of divorce primarily involves paperwork, it is important to have a skilled lawyer guide you through this process. Trying to save money by doing the paperwork yourself can result in major costs and irreparable mistakes. Divorce should never be DIY. Contact me for a free consultation before filing for divorce on your own.
  2. Negotiate a divorce settlement. If you are getting a divorce, you and your spouse probably do not see eye-to-eye on everything. You might disagree about child custody, who will keep your house, spousal maintenance (also known as alimony) and more. I am an excellent negotiator who knows how to help my clients reach settlements that protect their rights and interests. As an experienced litigator, I also know when it is time to stop negotiating and go to court to get things done.
  3. Fight for your rights in court. Many divorce issues just cannot be negotiated. I am always prepared to go to court to fight for the best interests of my clients. I have spent a lot of time working in court in Ste. Genevieve County, Perry County and the surrounding areas, and I know what it takes to protect my clients. I only take cases when I am ready and willing to fight for my clients all the way. While lawyers cannot guarantee results, I do promise my clients one hell of a fight and hope.

Perry County requires people who are getting divorced to go through mediation. I have completed mediation training and am prepared to help you fulfill this requirement.
